Soprano -Soprano is the smallest of the four ukulele body sizes and is the traditional ukulele size. The Honu Soprano is perfect for kids learning ukulele or for adults who prefer the brighter tone of a traditional ukulele.
Concert -Concert ukuleles are currently the most popular ukulele body size worldwide. Bigger than a soprano but smaller than a tenor, a concert uke is the perfect middle ground for most players. This size is suitable for all ages, though small children may be better suited to a soprano.
Tenor -Tenor ukuleles are exploding in popularity thanks to the full, deep sound produced by their larger body size. Bigger than the concert, the tenor is great for teenagers and adults that are looking for the most volume from their ukulele and extra space for their fingers on the fretboard.
Baritone -As the name suggests, a baritone ukulele is the largest and deepest sounding of all of the ukulele sizes. Usually tuned like the highest four strings of a guitar (DGBE), rather than the GCEA tuning found on most ukes, a baritone is great if you have a background in guitar because you won't have to learn any new chord shapes. They are also very fun if you are a ukulele player looking to experiment with a different tone.

Acacia has long been one of the most popular tonewoods used on higher end ukuleles and it's easy to see why. Visually striking and tonally rich, each piece of acacia has its own characteristics, making each instrument built with it unique. For our Kohala Deluxe series, we have paired the all acacia body with abalone style purfling and rosette and flame maple binding. The installed UK-500T pickup system includes a built in tuner with 3-band EQ and is powered by included lightweight CR2032 batteries. As with all Honolua Ukuleles, it includes premium features designed to produce the best tone possible at an affordable price, including solid acacia top for greater volume and better tone, bone nut and saddle for better clarity and sustain, open back machine heads for tuning precision and eco-friendly wood selections.
Kohala Series
The Kohala has all of the aesthetic upgrades of the Mano, including solid top, maple binding, gold tuners, and dual strap pins, but it’s built with acacia wood instead of mahogany. Acacia is revered for its beautiful, full tone and we’ve added abalone-style trim around the body.

After a surge in popularity in the last couple of years, the tenor is poised to become the biggest selling uke body size soon. At 26", it is another increase in size from the concert (at 24"). The benefits of that larger size: you get even more room on the fingerboard to shape the chords and the larger body provides even more resonance, volume and depth. The tenor ukulele will sound quite a bit deeper than the other options, so it strays a bit from traditional ukulele tone.

Just received my new tenor Kohala acoustic electric ukulele. It looks and sounds great, with a fuller and richer sound than my first ukulele which is the Honolula Honu concert. I enjoy playing both , and all my Honolua ukes are great value for me as a new ukulele student. My Honu has a high g string and I went with a low g on my new Kohala tenor.
I purchased the Kohala Deluxe Solid Top Tenor Acoustic Electric Ukulele with D'Addario Pro Arte Tenor Low G Ukulele Strings and am thoroughly impressed with the fit and finish of the instrument. The acacia wood, abalone style rosette and purfling, maple body binding, and satin finish are quite attractive, and the construction materials (bone nut and saddle, tuning heads, solid acacia top, pickup system with tuner) are of high quality. The instrument sounds wonderful with excellent tone and a resonance that sings. The attention to detail and overall quality of the instrument rivals others in my collection that come from manufacturers such as Cordoba, Oscar Schmidt, Lanikai, Alvarez, and Kala. The value for the dollar that this ukulele represents is exceptional.
I love my Honolua tenor ukulele! I’m proud that it’s a Canadian product, it was easy to order online from the website, and the price point is great. The wood is beautiful and the mother of pearl inlay is definitely a wonderful accent. This particular model comes with an automatic tuner which is very handy, and is also electric so I can plug it into an amplifier if I want more volume. This is my third ukulele and it is definitely my favourite!
I've had my Honolua Kohala Ukulele for a couple of months now and I am quite happy with the sound, both acoustic and when plugged into an amp. I purchased it so I would have a re-entrant (i.e. high-g) tuned uke to go along with my other low-G tuned uke. I love the grain patterns of the Acacia wood as well as the Abalone Rosette and Purfling. It all goes to giving the ukulele a very classy look. My only negative comment it that I find the string height over the nut to be a little high making cords such as Bb harder to play. Since string height can be fixed this is a minor complaint.
